My recipes represent who I am.  While I focus on Korean recipes, I have much more than just Korean here as I love all cuisines, including Indian, Mediterranean, Italian, Japanese, Ethiopian, Chinese, and more! They have changed and have (hopefully) improved over the years just as I have. However, I have tried to keep two factors constant throughout this evolution: taste and simplicity.  Every recipe I create or adopt as my own must be delicious (to me), and relatively easy to make. I hope you will find my recipes to be just that. Please try them, personalize them, and let me know how you liked them!

  • Baba Ganoush

    Baba Ganoush

For some unknown reason, I naturally dislike the taste of eggplant. I have tried probably over a dozen preparations of eggplant across at least six types of cuisine with no success. A few years ago, I tried baba ganoush at a Mediterranean restaurant in Austin (that shall not be named) and I hated it. Not dislike,… Read more

  • Shrimp Ceviche Salad

    Shrimp Ceviche Salad

This Shrimp Ceviche Salad recipe is super simple in preparation and ingredients. It is closer to a salad than a ceviche since the shrimp is cooked before assembling into the salad. I’ve had ceviche dozens of times, and even as a lover of sushi, sashimi, and all things raw, I’ve never really enjoyed ceviche. Yes,… Read more

One of my favorite memories from traveling for my day job (management consulting) and… Read more

  • Falafel

    Falafel

This falafel recipe has been a labor of love, sweat, and tears. Well, maybe not that dramatic, but I have never failed so much on a dish than falafel. (Baking aside, but that’s another story) The first few times I tried to make falafel, I ended up with a pile of goopy grainy chickpea mess… Read more

    Healthy Elote Street Corn

I really wanted to call this Mexican Street Corn (Elote), but with my healthy adaptations to this recipe, it just wouldn’t be right. • Sukiyaki: A Harmony of Beef, Vegetables, Tofu, and a Sweet broth.

Sukiyaki: A Harmony of Beef, Vegetables, Tofu, and a Sweet broth.

This Sukiyaki recipe comes with a bit of history. In 2003 when I opened my Japanese restaurant in Tucson, I wanted to offer something unique. That something was a Sukiyaki / Shabu-Shabu bar. It had been done in NYC and LA, but had not yet made it much further out into the public view. We… Read more
