Growing up in Southern California, I’ve experienced the some of the best Pho you can get in the states. One common denominator of nearly every great Pho joint, not just in Cali, but most anywhere, is the cleanliness, or lack thereof. But, you don’t go to Pho for clean, you go to get a great bowl of Pho, and many times you’re either hungover or just too damn hungry to care. Enter Pho Please.
Pho Please tries to do the unthinkable – great Pho in a clean modern atmosphere. I think they’ve done it, and then some. After seeing all the great reviews of Pho Please on Yelp, we decided to make the trip to south Austin to try it out. Pho Please offered up a wide selection of Vietnamese fare in a surprisingly clean and modern atmosphere. It is definitely an Austin-chic take on Vietnamese.
The several bowls of pho I’ve had over the past few weeks have all been consistently great. The Banh-Mi was out of this world – one of the best in Austin!
The service was quick and attentive with an added detail that rarely happens at most pho places – a manager actually came by our table and asked how everything was. She seemed genuinely open to knowing about our dining experience. I can say this has rarely if ever, happened to me at any pho establishment I’ve visited. Most Pho places have a laissez-faire attitude when it comes to table touching but Pho Please was on top of it!
The final cherry on top is this amazing Green Tea Thai Tea mashup. If matcha, jasmine, thai tea, and a latte had a baby, you have the Green Thai Tea from Pho Please. It is amazing and words can’t describe it’s deliciousness. It’s worth the drive down to south Austin just for this drink.
