Snow Monster is a Taiwanese-inspired shaved ice parlor that offers a unique twist on shaved ice. They take shaved ice to the next level by using frozen blocks of drinks in the place of ice. This will become the next frozen yogurt in my opinion! Living in Hawaii for several years while serving in the Marine Corps, I’ve experienced the best shaved ice ever: Tat’s. Tat’s Shaved Ice is a small shaved ice truck in Kaneohe Bay just off Kamehameha Hwy. For years, I raved about the shaved ice in Hawaii and how nowhere on the mainland could you find a comparable place.
That belief came to an end in my discovery of Snow Monster, my new favorite shaved ice. It has created a concept that is just short of mind-blowing. My favorite shaved ice usually has cream or ice cream mixed into it, but Snow Monster’s concept of using a block of frozen mix to shave instead of a block of ice takes it to another level.
The block of flavored ice, in the flavor that you desire, Thai Tea and Matcha being my two favorites, are shaved into a light, fluffy, and snowy pile of goodness. As if that wasn’t enough, it’s then topped with your choice of toppings, which seem endless in choice. My toppings of choice are tapioca balls, mochi, panna cotta, coffee jelly, and sweetened condensed milk. There really are so many toppings available, it has something for everyone. Another interesting item, the Snow Waffle, is on my list to try one day.
We’ve been back to Snow Monster more times than we can count, but there is no end in sight. If you’re in the mood for something cold, you have to give Snow Monster a try!
