La Cantera Resort – San Antonio, TX

La Cantera Resort is a relaxing getaway destination tucked into the hill country of San Antonio. We first discovered La Cantera while looking for a resort location without having to fly or travel for hours and hours. Enter La Cantera Resort & Spa. The price per night is a bit on the higher end of the price range, knowing I can get a very nice suite at Aria Sky Suites for the same price, but we decided to try it out.

I am glad we decided to give La Cantera a try! La Cantera is one of our favorite ‘staycation’ locations where we go to escape the Austin traffic, hustle, and bustle. The rooms are comfortable, but what makes this resort so relaxing are the amenities. The swimming pools overlook the rolling hills. You will easily get lost daydreaming while relaxing anywhere on the grounds of the resort. One of our favorite amenities is the open courtyard that has a dozen or more outdoor seating areas with fire pits strategically placed throughout.

Another great feature of the courtyard is that the hotel bar, Sire Bar, serves the entire courtyard. You can relax outside on a sofa beside a fire pit enjoying as many White Grapefruit Cosmos and Manhattans as you can drink. There are multiple dining options on property, but none have really jumped out at us. Dining quality has improved since our first visit, especially now with the coming addition of a ‘signature restaurant’ that we will definitely try once it is available! There has been an addition of a new spa as well that we will test out and update this review. Overall, La Cantera is a great choice as a resort and spa if you are in the San Antonio area.
